Runescape + Voice acting?
I was playing Oblivion last night and I realised that it was the voice acting that made me really pay attention to a story and get involved in it. In Runescape, I just click past most of the dialogue without even being bothered about the story. What if Jagex actually got decent voice actors to read out the quest dialogues? Would you find it more easy to become interested in the quests? Before anyone brings up the whole thing about loading times, let me just ask that you throw that out the window for now.
Now, we know Jagex are NOT good at making sound effects. I mean, heh, they have that ultra-lame sound your character makes when getting attacked (you know, the “eerrk!” sound. Or the “oorrkk” sound if you’re a male). Now that I think of this though, Jagex release so many quests every few months that it’d be a bit of a hassle to hire someone to read off the dialogue for each new one. Anyway, just a thought.
-Gripe that is not related to the above post-
Ok, for those of you who work in retail jobs/food jobs, isn’t it annoying when customers use your first name constantly? Yeah, I have a name tag, I get it. I don’t need you saying “Hey, Kristina, I like this purse. Isn’t this a great purse, Kristina? Oh, Kristina, this one is even better..Kristina”. Wtf, I seriously had a lady do that to me today. Maybe she just liked my name..or maybe she’s a l–
Oh god, I didn’t even think of that. AND SHE TOUCHED MY SHOULDER. I need a new name tag.. I don’t want some crazy lady stalking me. My new pseudonym should be ______. (pick one for me)

I think that sound updates are more important right now than graphical updates. I mean, the “oorrkk” sound (as you described it ;D) needs some updating. Also some dragons roaring would be neat.
Voice actors would be cool, but Jagex probably wouldn’t want to hire them for all the quests they make. It would probably be some nerdy intern with a thick British accent. XD
As for pseudonyms, ask Creepy to make one. Mquiina perhaps.

I was thinking of .. Tenniqua (H)

Tenniqua? I SUPPORT
But first we’ll have to get Creepy’s approval. Because he’s Creepy and all. Plus I have a feeling he’ll have a better one. XD

I agree. Adding voice to the quests would make them much better.

I started work in a bistro type place last week, I sort of know everyone in there because I used to eat there a lot. Before I worked there they all used to call me ‘Brad’ but now I work there everyone calls me ‘Bradley’ wtf?

You should be called Porky Sausage.
Anyways, have you noticed you in Oblivion that the voice actors, theres only about 10 of them?
Imagine what runescape would be. It’d be like andrew gowers dull annoying voice.
It’s a nice idea but if, like me, you’ve ever called Jagex to start a subscription and heard the dudes prerecorded voice down the phone, you’ll know why text is better. XD

I preferred listening to music while I played.

I don’t wear a name tag when I work, people hardly ever use my name they just say “excuse me” and the one’s who called my Alex made me think “how the fuck do they know my na… oh.”

You know MQ…maybe that lady had a daughter or something with your name. Maybe she just really likes the name. Or maybe the name plus your face reminded her of someone she once knew who is now gone. You never know. And at least you don’t have my problem, people don’t even bother with my first name…my last name is so unique, it has consumed my identity. *sigh*

You know, Christopher, I did think about that being a possibility after writing this. But, she acted so.. like it was natural to say my name after every sentence, so I really don’t know
What’s so special about your last name? Does it rhyme with something? Is it hard to pronounce?
October 24th, 2007 at 1:59 am
Um, it rhymes with stuff, but mostly it is just fun to say. Also, my last name has some historical notoriety, and not the good kind that you actually may be fairly familiar with (being Jewish). My family had nothing to do with that as we have lived in the U.S. since before WW1.
So if I gave you too many details, you could easily look up who I was on Google, as it would be very easy to guess. That is probably pretty ambiguous…but I hope you understand.

Ohh
I understand.
